Import Existing Footprint into New Footprint - Footprint Editor

When copying and pasting footprint into a new footprint it is pasting all layers onto the active layer rather than their respective layers. Is there an option to import an existing footprint instead of copy/paste from an open file?

  Hi Alice,

  Are you trying to create a new footprint from an existing footprint?  If so, it may be easiest to open the existing footprint and do a Save As to create the new footprint. 

  Are you using Component Editor or Component Manager?  With Component Editor, if you need to import some aspect of another footprint into an existing footprint, when in the Footprint Editor locate the Utilities Tab on the ribbon.   Then select Import -> Footprint In the dialog you browse to locate the footprint to be imported.  There are some settings to consider for objects to load.  Once set, select execute.
