Nest a cable in another cable
When I nest a Cable in another Cable (Ticked as overbraid), E3 does not include that in the cabling List? Is this particular bug in the software 20.10 or it is not doable?
Details:
What I have found is that, In Device Table, when I drag the cables in the Overbraid cable. It creates a copy refenrence of the cables. (means it show two instances there). When I compile the Cable List in Reports, The Overbraid Cable is not shown. How can I resolve it?

Hi Suee,
With the standard E3.series reports, the cable report will provide details of cables and overbraids that contain conductors. So for example, my overbraid cable W1 will show in a cable report the conductors 1 and 2. However, any conductors that are located within the cables W2 and W3 inside of W1 will be added to the cable reports for those cables and not to W1. My cable W5 does not have any conductors and a cable report will not be generated for that cable.
If you are comfortable with scripting you could create a script to create complex reports. Another option would be to investigate if an add-on tool would be beneficial for your reporting needs.
If you only want to see the cables that are nested in an overbraid under that device in your device tree, this can be set in the Tree Control Properties.
To open the Tree Control Properties, right mouse click anywhere within the device project window and select Tree Control Properties from the context menu.
Then open the Sorting tab. On the Sorting tab near the bottom there is an option Show assembly parts only beneath parent, when that is enabled you should no longer see the two instances of the cable in the device tree.
Kind regards,
Laura Mirto

Thanks, Laura Mirto, for the guide. I want the report which could tell me the cables inside the overbraid. May you tell me the add-on tools that will perform those functions.
