Total length of jacketed cable
I have a 3 conductor jacketed cable (e.g., SEOOW) I am including in a formboard harness. For discussion purposes suppose that the cable is needed in the following configuration:
- Fan-out 3, 1, and 1 inch leads on one end (for wire A, B, and C, respectively)
- Leave 1 inch of cable jacketed, and
- Fan-out 1, 1, and 3 inch leads on the other end (again, A, B, and C, respectively)
I am trying to figure out how to get the Formboard BOM to list the correct total length of the cable. As best as I can see, the BOM is generated using the total length of the first wire in the cable ( (3+1+1 = 5 inches) and not the max length on each end plus jacketed length... in this case, 3 (for wire A) + 1 (jacketed length) + 3 (C wire) = 7 inches.
Does anyone know if Harness Builder will always look at the first wire or can it be smart enough to look over the whole cable and decide the correct total length to choose.
