Database Symbol Grid always changes
Hi,
I'm having an issue that every time i create a new symbol i have to change my database grid settings to match what i want the symbol to be built on. Is there a way that I can make a standard and have the program stick to it?
Thanks,
Rick

in order to retain the settings in the database editor, you must save them to a library template file. this file is specific to constructing library symbols and not to be confused with project template files.
the steps go something like this:
1. start the database editor
2. go to Tools>Settings
3. go thru all the categories. make necessary changes to your grids, etc.
4. under the main category 'Database Editor' look at the file name that appears under Template. it might be something like Database.e3t. remember the filepath and name of this file. when library starts up, it will use this file to set up your database editor.
5. exit settings by hitting 'Okay'
6. go to File. drop down to 'Save As'. do not use 'Save' as it doesn't create the template file.
7. in the 'Save As' dialog, navigate to the file path found in step 4.
8. click on the drop down box for Save As type. pick E3 Template (*.e3t). you should see the e3t file for database.
9. select the database e3t file. be careful not to select the project template file.
10. hit okay.
11. stop the database editor, then restart it again to see if your changes are retained.
i remember we had problems with settings not being saved. i think at the time we were not saving the changes to the template file so its important to pick the File/Save As menu item. if you do a File/Save, it will not save your settings. it'll just create an e3s file.
hope that helps,
