Attribute Text Template
Hello,
E3 2012
I am working on a text template that when dragged/dropped on a connection point on the schematic will display a graphic, wire color and wire cross section.
I want it to also display the destination of the connection.
Can the attribute text template display the destination (target) or just the attributes associated with the wire?
ie: If I have a connection from TB-1 to TB-2... When dragged onto TB-1 connection point I want the result to look like this (line is graphic) _________RED___22___TB-2
I know the target can be added as an attribute in a regular symbol, but I want all the attributes to be grouped together not separate.
Thank you,
B

This is not possible with a symbol type 'Attribute Text Template' You would need to script something.

Admin,
Please elaborate as to why this is not possible.
I have everything but the connection target working in this manner.
Lets say I create a default wire between two points.
Only the logic is present, not a physical connection line just the dashed line, but the wire attributes exist (red 14 awg).
Then I drag and drop this attribute text template onto the connection node...
It makes my special graphic, color text and awg text display like I want it to.
I just cannot figure out how to get the "TO" or target location to show up.
Thank you,

Hi B,
The textnode for 'connection target' is not programmed to work on an attribute text template symbol. It would be a good idea to ask your E3 Service provider to log this as an enhancement for you. The Connection target textnode only works from pin information. It must be grouped to a pin. So you can make a macro to update your specified textnode.

Admin,
Thank you. I will request that.
Is it possible to have the Attribute Text Template autopopulate when a connection is made or must they be manually dropped on the connection nodes?
Thank you,B
